Spring 2019 Canadian U16 Team Tryouts To Take Place in Edmonton
On March 22, 2019 Canada Basketballl revealed their list of 29 player invited to attend the U16 Canadian National Team tryout taking place at the Seville Centre in Edmonton, AB.
The camp is scheduled to take place March 27-31 and will host the top prospects born 2003 or later, from across the country.
“We are excited to welcome back the athletes to our U16 camp and looking forward to Edmonton’s great hospitality as our host city,” said head coach Cheryl Jean-Paul via press release.
Players participating at these tryouts will be competing to represent their country at the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship in Aysen, Chile, this year looking to take place June 16-22, 2019.
“Working towards the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship 2019 is a great opportunity, both for our staff and for this age group, so we are anticipating a competitive yet learning environment”, Jean-Paul went on to say.
This particular camp aims to build on the momentum of the previous camp that took place on December 2018, where 40 or so invitees gathered for the initial round of the process.
“Representing one’s country is such a huge honour and this group will do a great job from what we have already seen in December and throughout the past few months.”
This Spring session will likely follow previous Canada Basketball processes, which will see this session whittle the selection pool down to 15 or so, with the final roster being selected late May or early June.
