Kingston’s Balanced Attack Earn 59-54 Win Over Blues

The Kingston Impact used a whopping 21 Free-Throw attempts in the Fourth Quarter to squeeze out a close 59-54 win over the Scarborough Blues in exhibition JUEL action on January 21, 2012.

The Impact’s Shelbey Kralik (5’10”, G/F, 2013) was a major beneficiary of her team’s steady parade to the charity stripe, shooting 10-10, accounting for all of her 10 points throughout the contest, leading her team in scoring.  Kingston as a  team, presented a balanced attack that demonstrated that they have a good fundamentals, leading to a solid win.

The contest started off extremely slow, seeing both teams only mustering a 6-6 tie at the end of the First Quarter and finding each other deadlocked at 19 going into halftime.

In the second half, the game opened up a bit and the pace of the game seemed to helped by teams looking to get out and run. That in turn led to the steady parade to the foul line for both teams as many were caught flat footed on defense.

The Blues’ Sandra Amoah (5’10”, G/F, 2012) showed a lot of strength en-route to leading the her team with 11 points. Her aggression, which was very much under control, accompanied strong takes to the basket, which at times could have used softer touches to go along with her finishes for better results.

Despite the loss, the game was certainly within the Blues’ grasp. They shot a lowly 38% from the Free-Throw line.
